April 9—On Friday, the unelected New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board (EIB) voted 4-1 to reject a request to pause the enforcement of their electric vehicle mandate. Their decision was made despite ongoing legal challenges from New Mexico auto dealers who argue that the regulations will have negative impacts on the auto industry.

These mandates adopted by the board last year require that 43% of new cars and light-duty trucks delivered to New Mexico must be electric vehicles within two years, with this percentage increasing to 82% by 2032. Additionally, 15% to 20% of new, heavier-duty commercial trucks delivered to the state must be electric by 2026, and 40% to 70% must be zero emissions by 2034.

The new rules have faced significant criticism, especially from rural New Mexicans and the Navajo Nation, who expressed concerns about the reliability of electric vehicles during long-distance travel. New Mexicans have also raised concerns about the prices of new electric vehicles.

“Most new electric vehicles cost upwards of $50,000. Only politicians entirely out-of-touch with the financial struggles facing hard-working New Mexicans would mandate they make a $50,000 purchase by drastically limiting their other options,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce.

“The repeated government overreach under the Democratic Lujan Grisham administration is deeply disturbing. The Democratic Party thinks it can remove your Second Amendment, tell you what kind of car you have to drive and dictate what type of stove to use.

Enough is enough! We need to take our state back, and the only way to do that is to break up the Democratic monopoly that has become too bloated with power and is continually overstepping into the lives of New Mexicans. I urge all New Mexicans concerned about preserving their freedom and livelihoods to vote Republican up and down the ballot in November.”

Oh, no! Democrats are coming after our water heaters! We better give up our reproductive rights, embrace the big lie, become climate change deniers and vote Republican!

Ladies, if you think its over reach for the government to ask questions about your appliances imagine when they get nosy about your periods and miscarriages.

Remember get out and vote, remember which party thinks governors should have a say in family planning, and always remember the BALLOT is SECRETE! Go vote and vote for your rights and then tell your husbands and church friends what ever bs you they want to hear.

  • Big Government Inspections says:

When Republicans are in control of the Round House again they can stop the intrusive, extreme, and discussing overreach of government promoting EVs and electric ovens.

They can also make our schools safer by issuing every school a Government Child Genital Inspection officer GCGI and expanding the school day to screen out any Trans kids before each school day begins. The Children will also all be issued pistols, to dissuade the GCGIs from being to touchy feely during the exams.

Vote Republican to end intrusive government!

  • JH Cole says:

Mr. Pearce pounds the same old tunes that lost the last elections.
He’s trying to distract from Don the Loser’s attempts to become dictator and the GOP’s unpopular positions on abortion, guns and industry pollution.
New Mexico needs a legitimate opposition party, but we won’t get it with current GOP leadership and the current slate of candidates.

The first 2 comments listed above are indicative of the “new” Democrat Party. It is clear the values and principles of the Democrat party are not for the common people – like me. Under Democrat rule, New Mexico does not build up businesses within the state and does not attract new business. Arizona and Texas continue to attract new business and build up their existing businesses. When there are no new businesses, New Mexico has no new jobs. Disappointing. It is clear today that there is not enough generating power to supply the electricity we are currently using – remember the warnings to curb use last summer. The current situation makes requiring electric vehicles crazy. Are there plans to build more generating plants? Of course not. The Democrat party has made it almost impossible to build any new power generating plant with the onerous regulations and laws.
It is disappointing the pro-abortion side of the argument continues to use “reproductive rights” as a label and selling point. According to the pro-abortion argument, the fetus does not have reproductive rights to live. A fetus in the womb is a different human being than the Mother. A fetus in the womb is alive. As a smarter person than me said (paraphrase), a fetus in the womb is like a cake in the oven. If you put the proper ingredients in a cake pan in the oven, it will become a fully developed cake – if you leave it alone and let is finish developing. A fetus in the womb is alive, and, it will be a fully developed human being – a different human being from the Mother – when we allow it to grow and mature.
The EV law, it is really a mandate, i.e., a requirement, will put the average New Mexican in a position of not having a personal vehicle. The loss of personal transportation for going back and forth to work, pick up the kids, go to the grocery store, go to the Dr., would create a huge inconvenience, cause a large use of their time and cause of big loss of personal freedom. Whether climate change is a problem or not, the only people the climate activists are requiring sacrificing are the average people. The rich are now and will continue to fly – commercial and private – while limiting everyone else’s ability to fly. The rich will continue to drive whatever vehicle they choose. The rich will send their kids to school. The practical effect of the climate “rules”, taking away school choice and weakening the 2nd Amendment will be a 2-tiered society – those who have and those who have not.
The Republican party is no panacea. It is, however, light years better than the Democrat party.
