October 12—On Wednesday, Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge David Urias ruled in favor of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s amended public health order that suspends the right of law-abiding citizens to carry guns at public parks and playgrounds around Bernalillo County in a case brought by gun rights advocates. This case and ruling are unrelated to RPNM’s lawsuit challenging the Governor and NM Secretary of Health.
In response to this ruling, the Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman and former Congressman Steve Pearce issued this statement:
“The purpose of the Constitution is clear: to keep the government from infringing on the rights of the people. The Second Amendment is clear, and the Governor’s action is a clear violation of the Constitution. We will continue with RPNM’s lawsuit challenging her power to use public health orders to justify taking away New Mexicans’ rights.”
Mr. Pearce, the purpose of the Constitution is written in the Preamble, “. . . to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, ensure the domestic tranquility, . . . ” and so on. That’s why the judge found for the Governor, not MAGA extremists and the gun lobby.
Your devotion to guns and the NRA seems to blind you to the real history of our government and to the will of New Mexico’s voters.
New Mexicans want better community safety, including sensible gun restrictions consistent with the 2nd Amendment.
Democrats will keep winning–Gabe Vasquez over “God, Guns and Trump!” Herrell in CD2, for example–, as long as the GOP kisses up to its shrinking base and won’t dump Loser Trump.

You want to claim to have won the war after a single “victory”. Perhaps you do NOT have the STOMACH (or the testicular fortitude) to stick it out for the entire War. This is NOT about “MAGA”, or “gun owners”, (or even you claim about “devotion to guns”)..It has to do with the SECOND Amendment. Perhaps you ought to try reading it, instead of BEING TOLD what it means by leftists who despise the amendment. The Democrats’ idea of “sensible gun regulations (or “restrictions”, as you call it), is to effectively make all firearms illegal, or unusable (which is in VIOLATION with the Second Amendment). As for Mr.Vasques “winning” that election, The only reason why he “won” is because of the VENAL and DISHONORABLE GERRYMANDERING that the Democrats enacted that rewrote the congressional districts. It left Mrs. Herrell in a position where she could NOT possibly win the race with the way the new districts were carved out for a democrat majority. as for you assertions about Trump, You might want to take a look at the latest primary polls.
If you had integrity and courage you would put out a “statement” on chaos in the US House created by the GOP. There aren’t enough adults in the whole caucus to allow Congress to start work again, but you (ustedes) don’t seem to care.
