Albuquerque, June 29 — On Thursday, the Supreme Court declared through a majority vote that the race-based affirmative action programs of Harvard College and the University of North Carolina violate the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause.

The Republican Party of New Mexico’s 1st Vice Chairwoman Amy Barela issued the following statement:

“Today is a huge victory for every student of every race and background. Over the decades, affirmative action told minorities they were unable to compete on their own merit. These race-based policies then became a weapon of discrimination against Asian American students. Young men and women’s dreams and opportunities should be determined by their hard work, character, and excellence, not their race. As Republicans, we believe racial discrimination has no place in our country and applaud the Supreme Court’s decision that gives every student a fair opportunity to succeed.”

  • JH Cole says:

Ms. Barela swallowed the kool aid that erases 400 years of racial policies and blinds elites such as the SCOTUS majority from seeing the racism that still affects Blacks, Hispanics and others in our society today. As a responsible citizen she will study the dissents, I’m sure, and get a more accurate picture.

Ms. Berela, Chairman Pearce, Ms. Skaggs et al still hope Republicans don’t notice that they won’t make a Statement about Trump, his crimes against our country and the way he is destroying the GOP.
