ALBUQUERQUE, AUGUST 26 — The Vice President of the Navajo Nation and an Albuquerque Police officer were among the speakers last night on Day 2 of the Republican National Convention in Charlotte.

Myron Lizer addressed the country and told Americans how President Trump has taken initiatives to help Native Americans. He credited the President with inviting Native Americans to take part in the American Dream, helping the Navajo Nation in the COVID-19 crisis and fostering a better relationship between Washington and Native Americans.

“President Trump has made a commitment to helping all people,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “His support for Native Americans is unwavering, and his Administration continues to provide funding, COVID-19 relief and resources, and the President has established a strong relationship with tribal communities throughout the nation. He’s also taken action to address the serious problem of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. The President has been concerned with the well-being of Native Americans.”

The Convention also included Albuquerque Police Officer Ryan Holets, who made national headlines several years ago when he agreed to adopt the baby of a homeless woman struggling with substance abuse. He thanked President Trump for tackling the opioid crisis and calling it a public health emergency. He told the nation that under President Trump such drug overdose deaths have dropped and credits him for these and other effective results.

“Officer Holets’s story is compelling, emotional and tells of a true goodness of the heart,” said Chairman Pearce. “Ryan understands, as President Trump does, that the drug problem has become a real epidemic in our nation. The President has pumped billions into fighting this problem and has committed vast resources. He’s continues to make the opioid crisis a priority in this ongoing battle.”

Tonight Vice President Mike Pence will address the nation at the Republican National Convention.

Tomorrow night President Trump will deliver his acceptance speech from the White House.
