Santa Fe, December 22—Today, Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court, Shannon C. Bacon, rejected the Republican Party of New Mexico’s request to postpone the Presidential Primary Act Nominating Committee Meeting scheduled today, December 22, 2023, citing it is “unduly early” as it is highly probably the field of Republican presidential-primary contenders will have narrowed between today’s meeting and early primary voting.
The meeting proceeded as planned, with the Republican Party represented by Senator Greg Baca, Representative Ryan Lane, and Steve Pearce.
The nominating committee meeting has been held in mid-February on previous years.
RPNM’s request cited the Presidential Primary Act (PPA) and the typical statutory framework that uses the issuance of the proclamation of election — which will not occur until January 29, 2024 — as the starting point for formal legal proceedings associated with the upcoming primary and general elections.
Additionally, the PPA allows the major political parties until “thirty days before the [Secretary of State] is required to issue the proclamation of the primary election” to decide whether they even wish to participate in the presidential primary. For this cycle, the deadline is not until January 2, 2024.
The names included on the Republican side were:
- Chris Christie
- Ron DeSantis
- Nikki Haley
- Vivek Ramaswamy
- Donald Trump

January 6, 2021, is a day that will live on in American history. J6 was an insurrection and part of a wider coup to keep a failed President in office after he lost the 2020 election. Trump directed the mob towards the Capitol for the purpose of pressuring or forcing VP Mike Pence into failing his duty to certify with Congress the 2020 election results.
J6 and the coup around it are the first instance in our 246-year history of a President violently resisted the peaceful transfer of power after losing an election. If America continues J6 will be discussed in our grandchildren’s history books long after most Americans have forgotten about the other attempted attack on the US Capitol building on 9-11-2021 (911).
For the past three years the GOP has failed to confront the traitors, seditionist, and insurrectionist that have over run the Republican Party. The GOP could have taken a pro-American pro-Constitution pro-Law and Order stance after J6 and sided with the American public and system and thrown Trump under the bus. But instead, Republican politicians, GOP leaders like Steve Pierce, and Conservative propaganda outlets have spent the past three years trying to convince the American public of:
1. (The Big Lie) J6 was justified because Trump had the 2020 election STOLEN from him by a perfect and invisible conspiracy.
2. (Gaslighting) J6 was normal and permissible public discourse and definitely not a violent insurrection and part of a coup to over throw the 2020 election.
3. (Scapegoating/blame shifting) J6 was really the fault of Antifa or was it the FBI?
4. (Downplaying) J6 was a random gathering of weirdos and not a goal directed act of violence ordered by an American President. It doesn’t connect to the other parts of the coup like the fake electors scheme, Trump’s calls to Secretaries of States to find him votes, etc.
5. (Gaslighting) Nothing is real, did J6 even happen or is it just a Democratic “Narrative”? Did you really see it happen on live TV three years ago?
6. (Magical Thinking) Magic Mike Johnson’s additional j6 footage contains something that will undo all the evidence and crimes we have already seen regarding J6. Showing J6 to be a conspiracy committed against Conservatives instead of a coup perpetrated by them.
Its well past time for the GOP to address J6 in the light of reality, this isn’t going away. Real Americans that believe in Democracy and the Constitution are not going to let this go or stand. The GOP is just dragging it out and securing their place in American history as 21st Century Confederates.
“Twentieth-Century Confederates” is good! May we all use it?
Oops, we’re in the Twenty-First Century, as Country over Party said.
Merry Insurrection Eve!
Steve Pearce told me our Lord was going to make him Governor of New Mexico as part of Project 2025!
Our Lord will pardon all us MAGA terrorists in his second term.
The big loser said “You’ll get tired of winning!” He and Mr. Pearce still don’t understand whining doesn’t win in court, law and facts do.
Is RPNM going to remove the disqualified candidates from the primary ballot or wait until he needs to be removed from the general election ballot?
Candidates that engaged in insurrection or support those that have are not eligible to run for office under the 14th Amendment to the USA Constitution.
What is next, is the GOP going to put Baron Trump or Elon Musk on a Presidential ballot?
And how is it in the interest of the New Mexico voter to delay this meeting ?
