Albuquerque, December 25—Today Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman and former Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement in observance of the Christmas holiday: “The Republican Party, its Board and I would like to wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year this wonderful holiday season. Christmas is a special time to spend with family and friends and to share the joy and happiness of the holiday season. During this Christmas season, we thank our military for their service and dedication and think of them and others who may be away from their families during the holidays. We pray for and honor members of the military here and around the world. Faith, family and our freedom are treasured gifts to be celebrated. I wish everyone a joyous Christmas holiday. God provides blessings for everyone, and as Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, may the New Year bring for each of us the birth of new hope and a year full of affection and gratitude. Again, all of us here at the Republican Party of New Mexico wish joy and blessings from our family to yours this Christmas season and every day.” |

Strange to see such pointed religious sentiments from a secular party steadily losing influence in a secular republic. What God does Mr. Pearce refer to, I wonder, former representative Herrell’s God as in “God, Guns and Trump!”?
Today’s GOP talks about Christianity more than ever, but if they should ever get back in office they would legislate like they never heard of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.
