Albuquerque, October 21—The following is a statement from RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce on tonight’s 2nd Congressional District debate on KOB-TV between Rep. Yvette Herrell and Gabe Vasquez: “Tonight Rep. Herrell proved to New Mexicans why she deserves another term in Washington. She easily distinguished herself from challenger Vasquez by her experience and accomplishments in Congress. She provided specifics and offered a vision for her District and America. She gave strong, sensible answers on issues vital to her District, including border security, crime and oil and gas. Herrell clearly demonstrated she understands New Mexico’s problems and how to solve them. Vasquez came off as an out-of-touch radical who seemed flustered and weak. He offered simple, recycled talking points, desperate attacks and disjointed answers that were refuted by Herrell. His leftist extremism will hurt the citizens in the 2nd District, while Herrell will continue to well-represent her constituents in Washington with solid solutions, integrity and a clear vision for the future.” |

The only issue that matters is the preservation of American Democracy.
Harrell, voted to throw out New Mexico’s electoral college votes in 2020 and has persisted in the big lie, that Trump won.
She is an anti American fascist and should be removed from office and imprisoned.
It’s time for America to get tough on fascism.
END THE GOP NOW.
It looks like Mr. Pearce wrote his review before the debate happened. Actually, the candidates were about even in style and entertainment value, but Mr. Vasquez clearly won on substance.
Ms. Herrell made few accurate claims about his record, or hers for that matter. Instead, she used GOP negative propaganda based on misleading snippets to attack his positions, and ran away from her record on issues important to New Mexicans.
She voted “No!” on low insulin prices, common-sense gun laws, funding the government–including public safety–infrastructure funding, and investigating the 1/6 coup attempt against democracy. She claimed the issues weren’t important or her NO votes don’t reflect her constructive intentions.
Sadly, KOB did not ask direct questions about D. Trump, so we don’t know what the candidates would do about his ongoing assault on the Constitution and crimes against national security. Ms. Herrell likely would have tried to excuse them, while we know Mr. Vasquez would fight to hold him accountable.
