Albuquerque, June 13–The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce on this past weekend’s trip to New Mexico by President Joe Biden: “President Biden’s recent trip to New Mexico to address the wildfires is just political grandstanding. More than 650,000 acres are still burning in multiple wildfires, destroying hundreds of homes with a financial impact in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Biden and our weak Governor haven’t dealt with this ongoing crisis head-on, both knowing they should have taken quicker action to crack down on the U. S. Forest Service’s ineptitude and botched wildfire management. The Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak blaze was a fire set purposely by the Forest Service in a bungled control burn. Biden’s trip was political theater and months too late, and he should be visiting the New Mexico border that’s an ongoing crisis. New Mexico communities continue to be endangered by thousands of migrants who get no health or criminal background checks and who are flooding our communities.” |
