CHIEF EXECUTIVE AGAIN DISPLAYS CONTEMPT FOR NEW MEXICANS, USING TAXPAYERS’ DOLLARS FOR DGA SHINDIG AT MANSION
| Albuquerque, May 26—The Republican Party of New Mexico is outraged but not surprised to learn that Gov. Lujan Grisham used a taxpayer-funded state account to throw a bash for the Democratic Governors Association in Santa Fe. The Santa Fe New Mexican reports through public records that this festivity happened last fall, and that Lujan Grisham’s campaign quietly reimbursed the funds two months later. The campaign reported the expense as “a campaign event.” According to the published report: “Expenses reimbursed by the campaign include an $890 purchase from Colorado Party Rentals for 100 12-inch ivory-gold chargers, 100 10-inch ivory-gold dinner plates and stainless steel forks, knives and teaspoons.” Sound familiar? Greedy Grisham enjoyed another bash during COVID. As hurting New Mexicans waited in breadlines, she and her staff spent thousands of dollars, feasting on Wagyu beef, tuna steaks, fancy wines and liquor at the Governor’s Mansion. Later she admitted she “dropped the ball.” Dropped the ball? For years, Lujan Grisham has broken the rules and played shell games with funds. Whether it’s buying jewelry after she closed stores, paying hush money from her campaign fund to silence a staffer who accused her of sexual harassment (calling it “legal expenses” in her finance report), spending $6,000 on makeup from her campaign fund, bypassing the legislature on federal funds spending—this Governor cannot be trusted. She makes her own rules, and ignores her constituents and lawmakers. “This latest revelation continues to define this governor as a hypocrite and someone who won’t play by the rules,” said RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce. “She sees no bounds when it comes to ethics and morals. She does what she pleases and defies rules and even the state constitution. She’s not fit to be trusted or to serve another term. Under her administration, she serves herself, not the people she represents. Her policies have been illogical and destructive to our state, and Lujan Grisham must be booted out or New Mexico will see even darker days ahead.” |

You have something here, Mr. Curtis and Mr. Pearce, because Governor Grisham is no saint. However, we notice that she admitted she dropped the ball, and that is more admission than current GOP leaders seem capable of.
Mr. Pearce never apologized for signing a bogus electoral slate at the behest of Rudy Giuliani and it’s far worse to attack our democracy than what Governor Grisham did. Yvette Herrell never apologized for lying to the GOP rally that Donald Trump won New Mexico, or even publicly backed off the lie.
Hypocrisy like this helps keep the Grand Old Party in the minority in New Mexico.
