| Albuquerque, March 11—The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce on revelations from credible sources that Gov. Lujan Grisham is conspiring via secret meetings with Democrats to revive and modify election laws after bills were defeated in the recent legislative session: “If these backdoor meetings are true, it stinks of corruption, and the Governor should be called out on this. It’s a low move to save her reelection bid. She knows she’s in trouble politically, and so she tries any devious way to manipulate things in her favor. Again, when this Governor doesn’t get what she wants, she tries to change the rules. She cannot be trusted. These are just more deceitful tactics to get her way. She’s behaved in this authoritarian manner throughout her governorship. It’s disgraceful that she cannot accept what the legislature does. This move to change election laws is a desperate attempt to steer the election in her favor by altering the rules.” |
