Albuquerque, February 17—The Republican Party of New Mexico is optimistic that the exodus of NM House Speaker Brian Egolf will bring a new era of cooperation between parties and one that will mean important progress for New Mexico.

For years, New Mexico has suffered under the progressive leadership of Speaker Egolf, who has consistently ignored Republican interests and promoted wild spending, higher taxes and progressive policies that have hurt our great state.

While RPNM wishes Speaker Egolf well in his future endeavors, it’s time for a Speaker who puts New Mexicans’ interests first and who is dedicated to making the state a better place with sound, sensible policies that welcome Republican input and interests.

“The prospect of a new Speaker is an opportunity for all New Mexicans to benefit,” said House Republican Whip Rod Montoya. “For years now, with Brian Egolf in control, we have seen a progressive and Santa Fe-centric agenda, one that has not helped the lives and livelihoods of hardworking New Mexicans across the state. There’s potential now that a new Speaker will focus on all the needs of New Mexicans with a desire to improve lives, boost our economy and make New Mexico a better place to live and raise a family. We hope this will be done in a bipartisan spirit of cooperation.”
The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico. Led by an Executive Board and its Chairman, former NM Congressman Steve Pearce, RPNM serves all New Mexicans via its headquarters in Albuquerque and can be contacted at (505) 298-3662.
