Albuquerque, December 5—The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce on the passing of former Republican U.S. Senator and presidential nominee Bob Dole: “I am saddened to learn of the passing of former Senator Bob Dole. He was a World War Two war hero who overcame a disability and served his nation honorably. He was a great statesman who served with dignity and courage in the U.S. Senate for 27 years. I had the good fortune to meet Senator Dole while I was in Congress. He was a gentleman and man whom I admired and respected. Bob was a stalwart conservative and one who represented all the values and ideals that make America great. He will be missed.” |

One of the things Senator Dole was noted for was working across the aisle for worthy causes. He worked with Senator Inouye for disabled people, with Senators Kennedy and Moynihan on policies on which they agreed, and they all fought their fellow partisans to do it.
The fact that Mr Curtis failed even to mention this, when nearly everyone at the national level made a big deal out of it, shows how far Mr. Trump’s followers have fallen from true lawmaking to cultish partisanship.
