Albuquerque, December 4—The following is a statement from RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce regarding a second lawsuit filed by Democratic State Senator Jacob Candelaria and Senate Republican Leader Greg Baca against the Governor. The suit comes after Lujan Grisham violated the Supreme Court’s order to end the spending of federal funds. The Court had ruled it’s the legislature’s role to disburse funds, and that the Governor has no authority to allocate money. The two lawmakers had filed an initial lawsuit earlier this fall to stop Lujan Grisham from spending federal funds. “Once again this Governor thinks she can do as she pleases and ignores the tenets of government. She already illegally bypassed the legislature when she spent federal pandemic money, and now she defies the New Mexico Supreme Court after it ruled she cannot proceed to spend such funds. Lujan Grisham must be called out on this and reprimanded for her audacious and contemptible behavior.” |
