| Albuquerque, October 15—Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce today issued the following statement regarding the Governor’s decision to extend the state’s indoor mask mandate: “This latest action by Gov. Lujan Grisham continues to display her arrogance when it comes to her assumption that she has unlimited powers. She has controlled New Mexicans’ lives throughout this pandemic, violating our rights and freedoms. Her actions are based on no true science but on arbitrary whims. New Mexico is now among just a handful of states that are imposing these indoor mask mandates. The Governor just seems to make up the rules and move the goalposts as we move forward. What’s even scarier is that her Acting Health Secretary has claimed we could be wearing masks for years. This has to end. Elections have consequences, and New Mexicans will eventually stand up to this Governor. They will speak out at the polls in 2022. We cannot live with these unjust and illogical decrees by this dictatorial Governor.” |
