Albuquerque, September 8—The Republican Party of New Mexico echoes the concerns of U.S. Rep. Yvette Herrell regarding the vetting of Afghan refugees being housed at Holloman AFB and around the nation. Herrell toured Holloman yesterday where refugees have begun arriving. Thousands of Afghan evacuees are taking part in resettlement operations at the Southern New Mexico base. “New Mexicans and all Americans deserve answers and true transparency when it comes to the vetting of the Afghan refugees,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “Rep. Herrell is absolutely right to question the vetting procedures, and she has justifiably asked about assurances for proper security.” RPNM has also raised a red flag when it comes to security and proper vetting. RPNM believes it’s imperative to have a thorough vetting to ensure refugees pose no threats to communities and the safety of Americans. “The American people deserve to know who is coming to their communities, how the government is vetting them, and the conditions on bases housing Afghan nationals,” said Herrell. “The Biden administration’s track record of disastrous and deadly failure in Afghanistan should not be allowed to extend to this process.” |
