Albuquerque, August 15—Last week eleven Senate Democrats rejected an amendment to the Senate Budget Resolution that requires illegal migrants on the Southern border to be tested for COVID-19. Two of those Senators were New Mexico’s Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Lujan. Both lawmakers voted to allow the superspreader event that is going on at the border. This was a commonsense and modest amendment, and one that meant migrants would be quarantined if they tested positive. The Senate passed the amendment 88-11. “New Mexico’s two senators’ radical position saw only nine other senators voting with them,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “Democrats across the country are demanding that citizens be vaccinated, that our kids wear masks and that businesses restrict access to those who are not vaccinated, but they obliquely turn their back on the border policies of the Biden administration. Some studies show that more than half those border crossings into the country have COVID. At current rates, more than 2 million people will cross the Southern border over the next year, and they will be flown and bussed across the country and dumped into communities. It is the most widespread superspreader of COVID in the nation—being brought to your community by the likes of the Democrats in power.” |
