Albuquerque, July 28—The Lujan Grisham administration has announced it’s recommending New Mexicans wear masks indoors again as a precaution against the Delta variant. The state recommendation follows the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The following is a statement on the Governor’s recommendation from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce: “The Governor is just echoing what the CDC is doing. This is a states’ rights issue, but Lujan Grisham again follows a national recommendation without any New Mexico statistics, research or true science on which to base this recommendation. And who will really follow this proposal? The Governor has become irrelevant as she arbitrarily makes these COVID-related decisions. If she really wants to improve the health of New Mexicans, she should address the crisis at our border, where people are coming into the state infected with COVID and without background checks– threatening the health and lives of our citizens.” |
