OCTOBER 14, 2025RPNM Chairwoman Amy Barela’s Statement

The City of Albuquerque’s refusal to show the Department of Homeland Security’s informational video at the Albuquerque Sunport is nothing short of disgraceful. This decision represents yet another effort by city leadership to silence truth, restrict access to accurate information, and promote misinformation that fits a political agenda.

The DHS video was created to inform and protect Americans.  It raises awareness about border security and the real impacts of illegal immigration on our communities. By blocking its display, Albuquerque’s leaders have made it clear that they would rather shield the public from facts than allow honest discussion about the challenges New Mexico faces.
Once again, the city has chosen to put illegal immigrants ahead of New Mexicans, ignoring the safety, security, and well-being of our citizens. Meanwhile, Democrat leadership is too busy keeping the government shut down to focus on the real issues that matter to the people of New Mexico. Their priorities are backwards, and it’s everyday New Mexicans who pay the price.
This censorship is unacceptable. Transparency and truth should never be political. Yet, Albuquerque officials continue to side with open-border policies over the people they are supposed to serve.
New Mexicans deserve better! We need leaders who put our citizens first, not those who hide behind political correctness and partisan gamesmanship while our state suffers.
