| NEW MEXICO AUGUST 27- Statement from Chairwoman Amy Barela regarding the memorandum of understanding that the Consulate of Mexico in Albuquerque and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions signed yesterday: “While we recognize that immigrant labor plays a role in New Mexico’s economy, this agreement between the Department of Workforce Solutions and the Mexican Consulate oversteps the boundaries set by federal law. The priority of our state government must always be to protect and advance the interests of New Mexicans first. Too many of our citizens are still struggling to find stable employment, build careers, and provide for their families. Our focus should be on job creation, workforce development, and training programs that uplift New Mexicans—not on expanding agreements that encourage dependency on foreign labor. The Republican Party of New Mexico stands firmly for policies that prioritize our workforce, strengthen opportunities for our communities, and ensure that New Mexicans are first in line for jobs in our state.” The time is NOW. Step up, declare, and let’s take back our communities and our state! ### The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico.
