Anissa Tinnin, the brave grandmother who courageously defended herself and her four-year-old granddaughter using a firearm against a career criminal intruder in her Albuquerque home, speaks to the Republican Party of New Mexico about what she expects to see in the upcoming legislative session after her terrifying experience.

In the previous session, Democrats not only attempted but actively pursued the passage of multiple anti-firearm bills. These were squarely aimed at law-abiding citizens, thereby creating more vulnerable encounters with criminals who have no regard for the law.
Anissa Tinnin told RPNM she wants to work with the legislature on legislation to keep career criminals like the one who threatened her and her granddaughter behind bars.
“I want to work with legislators during the special session to pass crime legislation that is actually going to protect law-abiding citizens—not criminals. This criminal — who had five felony convictions — and others like him are protected by the justice system, which allows them to continue to cause harm not only to innocent people but also innocent children,” Tinnin told RPNM.
She is pleading for action to be taken to safeguard her Second Amendment rights and to address the crime and drug problems arising from a lack of border security. She also criticized Democratic Party leadership in New Mexico for hindering these efforts.
“Crime is at an all-time high, especially in Albuquerque. The drug issue, combined with the revolving door of crime, is the problem. We also need to close our border because of the amount of drugs that are coming over.
“We need to protect our Second Amendment rights. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that law-abiding citizens who carry guns aren’t the problem. When Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham egregiously made a unilateral decision not to allow Bernalillo County residents to conceal and open carry, it showed how out-of-touch she is with what’s happening in the state she claims to be leading.
“While criminals are running wild, Democrats are trying to take away our guns, they’re not closing the border, and they’re putting our citizens at risk. I want to help change that.”
She concluded, “It’s time that legislators take action and stop playing politics with law-abiding citizens and innocent people’s lives.”
It’s hard to believe that Republicans care about crime when their leader is currently indicted on 91 felony charges, has payed out millions to sexual assault victims, and committed insurrection against the USA in front of us all.
