REPORT A VOTING INCIDENT: 505-305-0763

Albuquerque, October 14—The Republican Party of New Mexico is pleased that the Republican National Committee is taking legal action against Google for blocking vital fundraising and get-out-the-vote emails.

The RNC plans to file a lawsuit against the tech giant “very soon.”

For ten consecutive months Google has attacked the RNC’s email during important days at the end of the month. In just a three-day span, Gmail suppressed more than 22 million RNC emails, which included more than 358,000 GOTV emails.

This not only impacts fundraising but get-out-the vote efforts as well.

The RNC says “enough is enough,” and Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has announced the RNC is preparing a lawsuit against Google.

“What’s happening here is simple voter suppression,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “The RNC has the ability to track blocked emails while state parties do not, but we are sure that if Google is blocking RNC emails, they are likely blocking ours as well. This action is severely hurting Republican voting efforts. This is unfair and a clear violation by Google. Voters are not receiving key information and reminders to exercise their rights at the polls. I wholeheartedly support this pending legal action by the RNC.”

The emails violation was first discovered following a non-partisan study at NC State. It revealed that Google’s email platform, Gmail, sent Republican emails to spam at a rate about 820% higher that similar Democratic fundraising appeals during the 2020 election cycle.
