Albuquerque, June 22—The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce on President Biden’s plan to suspend the gas tax for three months:

“This is nothing but election-year politics. The President and Democrats know they’re in trouble come November—record inflation, record gas prices, failing green energy policies and plummeting polls—and this is an obvious band aid approach to “fix” our soaring pump prices. This is political theater taking center stage in a desperate cry for public support. Americans are paying through the nose to fill up their gas tanks while Democrats continue their war against fossil fuels. Biden should be suspending his green energy policies instead of hurting our vital oil and gas industry that helps fuel our economy. This mid-term stunt is a joke and another way Biden is trying to hoodwink Americans.”
The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico.
