CALL is hereby made to all RPNM State Central Committee Members of the 5th and 13th Judicial Districts to attend a State Central Committee Meeting on June 20 held at 6 PM MDT via Zoom link to be provided. Meeting is open to all SCC members to attend. However, only SCC members of the 5th and 13th Judicial Districts will vote to nominate the Judicial Candidates.

This State Central Committee Meeting Is being held with only one agenda Item, to choose Republican Candidates for the 5th and 13th Judicial Districts.

New Judgeships were funded in the 2022 appropriations bill, this created vacancies in the certified lists of Republican candidates for public offices.

The Fifth Judicial District (Eddy, Chaves and Lea counties page 9) and the Thirteenth Judicial District (Valencia, Sandoval and Cibola counties, Page 12) have each been given an additional “fund appropriation [of] three hundred six thousand dollars ($306,000) for an additional judgeship.” Link to the appropriation bill for reference: https://www.nmlegis.gov/Sessions/22%20Regular/final/HB0002.pdf

2-4-3. STATE – CANDIDATES FOR PUBLIC OFFICE – VACANCIES
If a vacancy occurs in the certified lists of Republican candidates for state or multi-county district public office, either before or after any primary election, such vacancy can be filled under the law. The vacancy shall be filled by the State Central Committee, or appropriate county, or appropriate district members of the State Central Committee, which action shall be deemed the action of the State Central Committee. The chairman and the secretary of the State Central Committee shall certify to and file with the New Mexico Secretary of State the name of the candidate selected by the State Central Committee to fill the vacancy.

Special Rules proposed for this SCC meeting are:

  1. No proxies will be allowed because it is a video “Zoom” SCC Meeting
  2. The parliamentary procedure used, shall be the “rule of the gavel.”
  3. Voting process will be conducted via electronic ballot… USR 1-3-4
