NEW MAPS REEK OF GERRYMANDERING AND JUST A BLATANT POWER GRAB BY DEMOCRATS

Albuquerque, January 21—Today the Republican Party of New Mexico filed a lawsuit in New Mexico’s Fifth Judicial District Court challenging the partisan and illegal gerrymandering of our state in newly approved Congressional redistricting maps. The maps carve up and extend Congressional districts to give Democrats a political advantage in future elections.

The newly approved redistricting maps dilute Republican voting strength.

The lawsuit is being filed by Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber & Schreck of Albuquerque, which is also handling the redistricting suits in Colorado.

RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce released the following statement on the lawsuit:

“Immediately after the 2020 election, Speaker Egolf announced his intention to implement a partisan redistricting of our state to reverse Republican gains. Last month, he followed through on that threat. The Democrat’s cynical attempt to consolidate their power by abusing the redistricting process in New Mexico is illegal and wrong. We are bringing this suit to protect the voices of all New Mexicans regardless of their political beliefs. New Mexico statute provides for a non-partisan commission to listen to the people across the state and then submit redistricting plans to the legislature. The commission held public meetings, many people participated, and maps were submitted from that body to the state legislature. And yet after months of hard work and hundreds of thousands in taxpayer dollars spent by the Citizens Redistricting Committee, the Democrats tossed all of that away and jammed through an illegal gerrymander that ripped apart communities of interest, disenfranchised voters across the state, and set up maps where the intent is to let Albuquerque have all 3 congressional representatives. Through this suit we will stand for fairness, the rule of law, and the core principles of our democracy.”
The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico. Led by an Executive Board and its Chairman, former NM Congressman Steve Pearce, RPNM serves all New Mexicans via its headquarters in Albuquerque and can be contacted at (505) 298-3662.

Oh this is rich! Here are four reasons the GOP suit is richly hypocritical.

GOP Chair Steve Pearce evidently wants us to forget that he and several others, in violation of the Constitution, submitted a bogus electoral report to Washington, and they are now under investigation by the Justice Department. We won’t forget that THEY TRIED TO STEAL New Mexico’s election from the voters.

The Party of Trump in New Mexico is suing over a little partisan gerrymandering, forgetting that the conservative US Supreme Court said partisan gerrymandering is legal; racial gerrymandering remains unconstitutional.

The New Mexico GOP does seem to recognize or care that state courts around the country are throwing out Republican RACE-BASED redistricting plans.

The only Republican member of New Mexico’s congressional delegation, Representative Yvette Herrell (DC2), stubbornly obstructs voting rights bills in the US House of Representatives, and they love her for it. The rest of our delegation, all Democrats, support the bills because they care about all voters’ rights in every state. Ms. Herrell prefers scoring points with the Trump Party’s base.

Mr. Pearce, Ms. Herrell, and every other GOP official I know of refuse to condemn the January 6, 2021 attempt to STEAL the presidential election. Heck, they don’t even have the guts to mention it, and they hope we don’t notice their silence. WE NOTICE AND WE WON’T FORGET.

Thank you RPNM for filing a lawsuit against this ridiculous redistricting map. Wish you the best against the democrat wall.
Also, an article on Gateway Pundit deserves everyone’s attention.
It exposes a voter roll clean-up system that is used in about 31 states, called E.R.I.C. . And of course, it is owned & distributed by the George Soros Open Society. According to Gateway Pundit report, in the largest U.S. counties used, it removed zero to two ineligible voters in the last 4 years. Louisiana recently removed it from their system. Sec.of State Kyle Ardoin stated,” it is a broken application that may allow partisan actors access to ERIC network, undermining voter confidence” .
ERIC system is a sham and New Mexico should remove it from operation.

Hey RH, none of your name-calling has anything to do with New Mexico!
Even main-stream Republicans recognize your Trump Party misinformation in service to the personality cult. Most Republicans also know that the Democratic redistricting plan is pretty tame for partisan gerrymandering and well within the conservative Supreme Court’s limits.
Mainstream New Mexico Republicans also are ashamed of Republican race-based plans in Georgia, Texas, and other GOP states and know that most of them will be thrown out by the courts.
