RPNM statement on today's (May 9th) KOAT-TV 1st Congressional District Debate.
Albuquerque, May 9—This afternoon Sen. Mark Moores again showed New Mexicans why he deserves to be elected to Congress. During a debate that aired on KOAT-TV and was co-sponsored by the Albuquerque Journal and KKOB Radio, Moores came out the clear winner and proved to viewers why he is the best choice for Congress.
Moores squared off with Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury, Libertarian Chris Manning, and Independent candidate Aubrey Dunn. This second televised debate focused on crime, gun control, the pandemic, health care, abortion, immigration, and other topics.
The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce on the debate:
“It is clear from Mark’s performance on KOAT-TV that he is the only candidate in this race who is in touch with constituents. He again demonstrated his command of the key issues like crime, the economy and immigration. Mark demonstrated his understanding of what New Mexicans need and deserve. He provided real facts, examples, and he offered sound solutions, while his opponent, Melanie Stansbury, evaded questions and failed to address key issues head-on. She offered little in the way of substance or answers. Moores easily convinced voters that his conservative agenda is best for New Mexico and that Stansbury’s radical platform would cause serious damage to our state and its future. Today’s debate proved again that Mark is the only person who can go to Washington and get things done for New Mexico.”
