RPNM statement on Gov. Lujan Grisham's Public Health Order.

Albuquerque, April 28—Today Gov. Lujan Grisham announced that New Mexico could reopen in nine weeks if the state can vaccinate 60 percent of New Mexicans.

The following is a statement from RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce on the Governor’s projection:

“It’s good that perhaps there’s light at the end of the tunnel, but the Governor has been playing politics with our health crisis from the beginning and has confounded and hurt our citizens with her illogical color-coded system. Our economy has been crushed, jobs lost and businesses have been closed for good, and there’s never been a concrete or equitable plan to address COVID-19. There’s been no true science or logic to address the pandemic in New Mexico. The Governor has just issued random decrees and suggested haphazard solutions that have damaged our great state, infringed on our freedoms, and caused despair. Her policies have even forced our kids to go to school in Texas and businesses have had to relocate out of state."
