U.S. house today approves a $1.9 trillion slush fund.

Albuquerque, February 27—Today the U.S. House passed what’s being touted as a COVID-19 relief package, but this shameful bill is a pork-filled slush fund to appease Democratic Party fat cats and Party contributors.

The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce on today’s vote:

“I’ve seen this too many times in Washington from both parties. Rahm Emanuel, with whom I served in Congress, said ‘You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.’ Well, here we go. It’s reprehensible that progressives put their pet projects into this bill. This bill is bloated, full of pork, and wasteful spending and includes Christmas tree items that serve only to accomplish the Democrats’ political agenda. This is unthinkable in these difficult economic times. Main Street businesses are barely staying afloat. Many have closed. Millions are unemployed. But pharmaceutical giants and other big corporations are getting rich off this bill, and political insiders will gain more ground and wealth. The Democrats are not concerned about reopening businesses but instead are paying out to people who contribute the most to them. This legislation has become too expensive with all its "extra fat" when the purpose of this bill is to directly provide economic relief for the millions who are suffering.”
