BARRETT’S ADDITION TO THE HIGH COURT BRINGS ANOTHER NEEDED CONSERVATIVE VOICE FOR FUTURE KEY DECISIONS

ALBUQUERQUE, OCTOBER 26 — Tonight in a historic victory for President Trump, the U.S. Senate voted 52-48 to confirm Appellate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. Barrett becomes the nation’s 115th justice.

The confirmation of the 48 year-old Barrett will mean conservative court dominance for a long time. Barrett, a mother of seven, brings a fresh perspective to the Supreme Court. She is a strong conservative, a proven legal thinker and a superior appellate judge, whom President Trump called “one of our nation’s most gifted minds.”

Barrett is President Trump’s third justice to sit on the Supreme Court. Her confirmation solidifies a 6-3 conservative majority.

President Trump nominated Barrett on September 26, following the death of liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump had appointed Barrett to serve on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017.

Barrett is expected to play a big role in addressing important issues such as abortion and the Affordable Care Act.

Despite pushback from Democrats this election year, President Trump performed his Constitutional duty when he nominated Barrett.

“Judge Barrett will be a true asset to the Supreme Court,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “Barrett is a judge of the highest caliber who will defend the principles of our Constitution and protect our liberties and freedoms. Barrett also brings a fresh viewpoint to the Supreme Court. She understands how to interpret the law and will be an integral part of Court decisions for generations. It’s encouraging that Barrett will be making key rulings and contributions for the future of our nation.”
