REPUBLICAN PARTY OF NEW MEXICO WANTS ANSWERS AND TRANSPARENCY IN PROBE

ALBUQUERQUE, OCTOBER 16 — The Republican Party of New Mexico is calling for Democrat Representative Patricia Roybal Caballero to explain the details surrounding the fraud investigation into her and her husband, Carlos Caballero, an elected Public Education Commissioner, involving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The fraud complaint with the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) was filed more than a year ago, but no details are being released. The state says the investigation is ongoing.

RPNM is asking Roybal Caballero and HSD to come clean regarding this fraud investigation.

“The integrity of all elected officials is paramount,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “If Roybal Caballero and her husband are defrauding public assistance programs meant to help needy New Mexicans, voters have a right to know. We cannot have candidates or anyone hide this kind of activity. Constituents have the right to know who their candidates are and their true character.”

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps, is a federal food assistance program. It provides support for low-income families, seniors and those with disabilities on fixed incomes.
