Press Release|

ALBUQUERQUE, AUGUST 27 — The husband of Jackie Vigil took to the national stage last night at the Republican National Convention. An emotional Sam Vigil told the harrowing and shocking story of his wife’s murder in their Albuquerque driveway in November. Jackie Vigil was gunned down during an apparent carjacking gone wrong.

Vigil credits the arrest in that case to President Trump, who provided federal agents to Albuquerque in July as part of Operation Legend. Vigil praised Trump for fighting hard for law and order and for the resources that went to Albuquerque, considered now one of the nation’s most dangerous cities.

The suspect in Vigil’s murder had been deported and has a lengthy criminal record.

The federal assistance comes as the mismanaged and demoralized Albuquerque Police Department continues to grapple with skyrocketing crime.

The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce:

“Our condolences go out to Mr. Vigil and his family, who are among the many victims in Albuquerque, a city rocked by violent crime. President Trump and his Administration continue to keep their commitment to fighting crime and keeping law and order in communities like Albuquerque. Thanks to the President and Operation Legend, there’s been an arrest, and justice is closer to being served in this horrific crime. Operation Legend is the kind of initiative that’s making a difference, and the arrest of this suspect proves that the President means business when it comes to tracking down and prosecuting these dangerous criminals.”
