It is with a heavy heart that the Republican Party of New Mexico wishes to inform you that former RPNM Executive Director Marge Teague peacefully passed away today. The Republican Party wishes to express its condolences to Marge’s family. She was 84.
Marge died in Oregon this morning and had been in hospice care for 10 days. She and her husband, Art, were married for more than 63 years.
Marge was a true force and a trailblazer in New Mexico Republican political circles for decades. She served as Executive Director for the Bernalillo County Republican Party and later worked for Governor Gary Johnson. Marge spent many years at the Republican Party of New Mexico, sitting on various committees and providing her expertise. She also served as Executive Director of the Party.
“Sad….but I have many great memories. For so many years she was a stalwart loyal active member of our party!” said Walter Bradley, Rules Committee Chairman for the Republican Party of New Mexico.
Those who knew or worked with Marge remember her energy and warmth.
“She was a wonderful lady, and she had a passion for the Republican cause,” remembers former Republican Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Deborah Maestas. “She had a fire for Republican politics, and she was there for the right reasons. She really wanted the Party to succeed. She was so dedicated and active.”
Marge’s dedication to the State Party was second to none, even helping with conventions at age 80.
No public services are planned in Oregon. She will be cremated and her ashes scattered at an Oregon beach. The family plans a memorial service in Albuquerque in May.
