The 2024 Republican State Pre-Primary Convention & State Central Committee Meeting—Register HERE.

Press Release|

The following is a statement from RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce on today’s virtual protest by restaurants across the state. The protest, organized by the New Mexico Restaurant Association, is a response to Gov. Lujan Grisham’s revised Public Health Order that again bans in-house dining. More than 200 restaurants have closed permanently under the governor’s Order, and more businesses could see financial ruin with thousands facing job losses.

Here’s the Chairman’s statement:

“We at the Republican Party stand with all New Mexico restaurants that have been suffering or have had to close as a result of the governor’s discriminatory Public Health Order. Unlike the governor, the Party understands that small businesses are the heartbeat of our state’s economy. The governor is again punishing people by closing dine-in services at restaurants, and she is destroying this vital economic engine in New Mexico. Her random, haphazard decisions on partial and full closings make no sense and continue to crush our economy and livelihoods. Our pending case before the New Mexico Supreme Court exemplifies our commitment to protect and promote all businesses throughout New Mexico.”
