Republican Party of New Mexico Files Complaint With Attorney General On Public Records Request State Auditor Tim Keller’s Office Violating Law

Albuquerque, NM- Republican Party of New Mexico’s Chairman Deborah Maestas sent a letter to the New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas requesting his assistance in getting State Auditor Tim Keller’s office to comply with the Inspection of Public Records Act.

After receiving an IPRA from a staff member at the New Mexico Republican Party on May 4, 2015, the State Auditor has simply ignored the request and, in doing so, violated state law.

Pat Garrett, spokesman for the Republican Party of New Mexico said, “Tim Keller has been chasing television cameras all over the state to proclaim his support of transparency, while simultaneously and hypocritically breaking the state’s public records law.”

Garrett noted that Keller has previously come under fire in the media for shielding his legislative records from public view: http://www.abqjournal.com/260263/opinion/ag-king-should-put-emails-rule-to-the-test.html

The letter and the IPRA which was emailed on May 4th is attached to the press release.
