Republican Party of New Mexico Releases Statement on Sen. Tom Udall’s Fantasy Plan for Supreme Court

Albuquerque, NM – Today, the Republican Party of New Mexico released the following statement on reports that Sen. Tom Udall has suggested President Trump ask a member of the liberal wing of the court to retire, so he may nominate both Judge Merrick Garland and Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court at the same time, as happened in an episode of The West Wing:

“While Senator Udall wastes his time writing West Wing fan-fiction, we just had an election that was largely decided on the issue of filling the open seat on the Supreme Court,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Spokesman Tucker Keene. “The people elected President Trump because they wanted him, not Martin Sheen, to fill Scalia’s seat, and he has done so with the laudable pick of Judge Neil Gorsuch. Sen. Udall needs to return to reality, respect the will of the voters and vote to confirm Trump’s impeccably-credentialed nominee.”
