Michelle Lujan Grisham Commits Fundraising Fraud Gov Candidate Fabricates State Law to Trick People into Donating Money ALBUQUERQUE – This week Michelle Lujan Grisham engaged in repeated consumer and fundraising fraud on behalf of her campaign for governor. She sent two fundraising emails that stated “a recent change in New Mexico state law required us to cancel all monthly donations to elect Michelle Lujan Grisham as the next Democratic Governor.” This is completely false. No such law exists or took effect. It is entirely a deceitful ploy to solicit money. “Michelle Lujan Grisham has fabricated a new state law in order to trick supporters into giving her money,” said RPNM Chairman Ryan Cangiolosi. “That is fraud and a possible violation of the New Mexico Unfair Practices Act.” New Mexicans still have the right to donate by recurring donation. That law has not changed this year. Under standard practices, the New Mexico Secretary of state will issue notices to all campaigns and political parties notifying them of a change in the law that would require recurring donations to be cancelled. The Secretary of State has not issued any recent notices regarding recurring donations. “The Secretary of State should demand that the Lujan Grisham campaign halt and refund all donations that were made as a result of her fraudulent email fundraising scheme,” Cangiolosi added. “All donor information should be immediately reported to the Secretary of State and the Lujan Grisham campaign should send donors who responded to her fraudulent emails a certified letter stating they misled the donor and apologize for fraud.” “Lujan Grisham has become desperate. She is significantly behind in fundraising and decided to engage in this fraud to scare people into filling her bank account. This is disturbing, unethical behavior from a lawyer and elected official who wants to lead our state.” The Consumer protection office of the Attorney General should investigate this counterfeit claim by the Grisham campaign. Citizens should not be misled by a candidate and elected official who claims that a law voids their first amendment right to donate to a campaign as a sham attempt to encourage people to sign up for more donations. The Republican Party of New Mexico will file a consumer fraud complaint against the Lujan Grisham campaign.

Name, I am writing to let you know about an update that has a giant impact on this campaign: A recent change in New Mexico law required us to cancel all monthly donations. The good news is that we can now accept monthly donations again – but the bad news is that previous donations won’t be reinstated automatically. That means we could lose critical revenue at the absolute worst moment – and I need your help to close the gap. Your monthly support could be the difference between electing a Democratic Governor in November and electing Martinez 2.0. So please, before we fall so far behind we can’t catch up: Activate a monthly donation of $5 today to make the difference that turns New Mexico blue! The monthly donation you make today is key to promoting clean energy, winning affordable health care for all and supporting hardworking New Mexico families. But right now, my Tea Party opponent, Rep. Steve Pearce, has hundreds of thousands of dollars more than this campaign does. That’s why I’m reaching out to you personally to ask if you’ll join our grassroots team of thousands of fired-up supporters just like you and help us win. Will you donate $5 monthly today to show your commitment to creating a better future for New Mexico? Join the grassroots movement TODAY by donating $5 monthly to elect a Democratic Governor and finally turn New Mexico blue. It means so much to have you by my side in this fight to turn New Mexico blue. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your dedication.
